He is a small, curious, and gentle boy who comes from a tiny asteroid (B-612), where he lives with a single, demanding rose. He travels the universe, visiting various planets and meeting bizarre 'grown-ups' (a king, a drunkard, a businessman), all while learning profound lessons about love, loss, loneliness, and what is 'truly important.' His most famous lesson comes from a fox, who teaches him that 'what is essential is invisible to the eye' and that one becomes responsible, forever, for what one has 'tamed.'
